Adam {high school senior}

I love working with high school seniors who are unique, and Adam definitely qualified! He loves trains, and all things automotive, and we incorporated those things into his high school senior portraits by doing the session in and near the Amtrak train station. Train stations have a great vibe, especially if you can find one that is more historic, like the San Diego Santa Fe Depot or the one in Tucson near Maynard’s restaurant. There’s an old world feel that comes from those stations, people coming and going for years, that lends itself so well to the idea of high school graduation being a journey ending and one about to begin. I would love to do an engagement session at Los Angeles Union Station (LAUS)

Adam’s grandmother found me two years ago and chose me to do her granddaughter’s senior pictures (see Veronica’s photos here) and then when it was time for Adam to graduate she contacted me again. One of the things that was important to her was having a photographer that could work well with teens with all personalities. Adam is on the spectrum for autism and it was critical that we work at his pace, and allowing him to set the tone without pushing. Photographing teens with autism or on the autism spectrum requires a lot of patience and flexibility, but can yield some of the most rewarding results. I have worked with several autistic teens for their senior photos and every one of them was not only successful, but allowed their true personalities to shine.
