Fall travel – joyous. The best time of year to go anywhere, full stop. The weather is is perfect, the trees change color (well, in most of the country), people come out from summer hibernation, jeans and boots and light jackets are on-trend, and there’s a nip in the air that stimulates the senses.
I L-O-V-E fall.
When the bf and I visited Portland it was October, which might have been THE best month. We tasted beer (Rogue https://www.rogue.com/, Deschutes https://www.deschutesbrewery.com/, 10 Barrels https://10barrel.com/pub/portland/, and sooo many others), kept calm and ate donuts (Voodoo https://www.voodoodoughnut.com/and liquor-infused Blue Star http://www.bluestardonuts.com/. Voodoo FTW btw.), saw snow on mountains in the distance, boated down the Willamette River, took an underground tour, checked out the largest art market along the water http://www.portlandsaturdaymarket.com/, did some fine foodie exploration and generally walked our butts off. In part 1 of this Travel with me Thursday edition, I’ll show you the city through my eyes. Part 2 will be alll about nature (of which there is an abundance). But for now, please enjoy the fall cityscape.
Keep Portland weird.
To find out the hottest spots in Portland, head over to Lonely Planet and research their guide books! I still love buying or downloading guide books because I feel like they have sooooo many options in just one place!
