I get tons of requests in the fall for Tucson family photos with Saguaros and luckily Tucson does not disappoint when it comes to filling this request! We have so many locations across the city where Saguaros are the focus and the backdrop. From towering, building-size Saguaro forests to densely packed Saguaro cactus, the desert is alive and ready for a close-up!
I love fall in the desert, especially for Tucson family photos with Saguaros. After a wonderful monsoon-filled summer, the desert actually is green and plump and the grasses are tall and some flowers may be in bloom. For people who think of the Tucson desert as resembling the Sahara (dry, sandy, dune-filled) it couldn’t be farther from the truth. We actually are green, and vibrant in our own way, but with a gorgeous palette that simply glows in the setting sun, with warm and soft sage greens and browns. We also have mountains – so many mountains. So even if we are doing photos with Saguaros, there will likely be a hint of mountains in the distance or even mountains close up! In the photos showcased here, you can see that we have some mountains in the distance that glow in the setting sun. So pretty!
I often get asked about clothing for family portrait sessions, and this family is an example of how mixing different colors can actually work great against the neutral palette that the desert provides. Despite the fact that all four of them are wearing a different color top, and one of them I wearing blue pants instead of black, it works because it blends, and this is definitely called coordination! If you ever wonder where to go to look for family clothing ideas for portraits, I always recommend Pinterest. Simple searches for “family portrait clothing and blue” or whatever color you want can give you far more interesting flat lays of coordinated colors – with accessories – than anything I could tell you! But I will help you plan, decide on a color scheme, and decide on whether to match or coordinate based on what you want to see hanging on your wall! That’s all part of the Photography by Jacquelynn Tucson family photos with Saguaros experience. And yes, it IS an experience!
