Y Family Desert Photo Session

How thrilled was I that for this desert photo session I was able to photograph Curtis and Amber (whose wedding I photographed not that long ago, click here to see those photos!) with their newest addition, baby Martin! Martin was JUST the sweetest, most smiley-est 4 month old, so alert and happy! The light was ideal for this early morning desert photo session and just that little bit of cloud cover added diffusion and delight to the photos. Then, when the sun poked out at the end, it added the perfect backlight.

I loved that Amber chose an orange sweater with complimentary colors for the family. Orange is such a good, bold color choice for a desert family sessions and really stands out against the neutral greens and browns of the Saguaro, mesquite and rock faces. Plus orange means fall, and these were fall photos! You wouldn’t normally think to pair pink with orange, but the color Amber chose for her daughter was perfectly complimentary. The whole thing just worked so well!

I was able to do lots of photos – from Martin alone, to him with his big sister, and of course ones with him with mom and dad alone and together, and then lots and lots of all four of them. I absolutely am happy to do any and all groupings when I do desert photo sessions so that everyone has a chance to be featured ; )

I am so honored that Amber and her family continue to choose me for their photography beyond the wedding and I hope to be their family photographer for years to come!
