Another fantastic in-home newborn photography session! I just LOVE doing in home sessions with newborns – it totally captures the moment in a comfortable setting. And Elijah slept the whole time (hooray) and even smiled! These are the moments that slip by – don’t wait until they no longer fit in your arms…time goes by so quickly!
A little peek into how I do newborn photography: First, I make sure they are good and sleepy when I get started. I tend to love working with wraps and blankets and also using boxes, baskets, bowls, and any cool container I can find in the house where I am photographing. This is one of the reasons I love doing in-home newborn sessions – there are always really cool inspirations to be found. In this case, I used their living room which had neutral walls and warn, brown tones and I incorporated a soft, brown blanket that I brought along with a brown baby wrap. Elijah slept through it all!
For two additional photos I used a blanket that Elijah’s grandmother had knitted, with some vibrant greens and blues, and wrapped Elijah into a green bundle that matched perfectly. And also, we did some photos in the nursery, which had a dinosaur theme with blues and whites, so I wrapped him in a blue blanket from his crib and put him in this soft dinosaur-themed basket that they were using to store blankets.
Here’s another example of one of my favorite in-home newborn sessions! Love love love.
