Portrait + Wedding Photographer serving Tucson, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, and destinations across the country and world.

I am a boutique portrait/wedding/elopement photographer. I provide a fun and seamless photography experience for you, using organic, effortless posing, and blending natural light with dramatic, off-camera light in stunning locations. I create images you love for memories that last a lifetime and beyond. I have been a full-time photographer for 13 years.

If I had to describe my style I would tell you there are about as many adjectives to do so as there are colors of crayons in the Crayola Box. I believe my work is an unlikely blend of soft, airy, + sweet, classic + timeless, and dramatic + glamorous. Vibrant. Bold. Colorful. Soft. Gentle. Sweet. That’s me. And if you look, you’ll see all these things in my work.

What it comes down to, though, is understanding lighting. Meaning, if you know light, if you know where to find it and how to use it, you can make anything happen. And so…I do. Natural light has a place in every session I photograph, but that off-camera light life lights me up as well. Sometimes you want a romantic vibe, sometimes you want to look like a magazine cover, and sometimes you want both. I got you. You’ll never wonder what to do with your hands, your face, or your feet because I strive to make you look amazing with effortless, natural posing. I would say that I have a boutique portrait and wedding studio. What that means to me is that I am not the cheapest photographer on the block, but I do feel like my work, my customer service, and my satisfaction guarantee make me stand out among my competition and make the extra investment worth it.

Photography is a gift that I can give others and others can give as well. It’s a legacy. It’s for you, but it’s also for your children, and their children. This is my full-time job. I have been photographing for almost 15 years, 13 of those full-time. It may be business {#hardwork}, but it’s also the thing I think I am meant to do above all else. This passion is an ever-shifting balance between seeing the ordinary and transforming it into extraordinary, taking real life, and showing that there can be magic, if only you know how (and where) to look. I mentor, I teach, I do, I live, I love. And every morning I am reminded that today…today and every day… I get to do this thing called photography and make a difference.

{more of the me you maybe didn’t know}

Photographer {#dreamlife}, Foodie {#sotasty}, wine-lover {#drinkme}, travel junkie {#takemethere #morethanonce} coffee addict {#wakemeup #darkroast}, rooftop bar seeker {#viewfromthetop).

I love to hike to the top of the mountain (#climbhigh} and plant my feet in the sand {#oceanlife}

I am a do-er. I try to embrace life and work fearlessly and live with no regrets. If I say it is going to get done, it will get done.

I love to read. My taste in books ranges from historical fiction to romance, to crime, to chick lit to espionage and thrillers. Stephen King, Diane Gabaldon, Jodi Piccoult, Nora Roberts, Linda Castillo, John Grisham, Ken Follet, James Rollins, JK Rowling, Tana French, Susanna Kearsley, Shari Lapena, Beatriz Williams, Malcolm Gladwell to name a few.

I adoorrreee cats and share my home with Kaia the Chocolate Point Siamese, and yes, she has an Instagram @_kaia_the_kitty_ and I love her to bits.

I also love to write {jacquleynnbuck.com/travel} when it moves me. I also share the adventures on IG @lifeunsensored

I love to cook and bake and watch the Great British Baking Show and pretty much anything that involves Britain and food.

I ❤ fresh flowers and patches of sunshine. If it’s the light of day and you can’t find me, look for me in a patch of sunshine. I’m either eating my lunch, keeping connected on my indispensable iPhone, or simply sitting, face turned up to the sky.

If night has fallen and you can’t find me, look for me on a rooftop bar with a killer view that serves crafty Cocktails (like Gin and Tonic with Fevertree Tonic), summery French Roses, and soft Pinot Noirs preferably from the Williamette Valley.

I love all things Scotland. My first trip (and my second) was magical. I feel connected to it in a way I can’t explain.

I might have mentioned that I am a foodie. I plan my vacations around the dining options and will gladly invest in an over the top meal at any moment.

Travel is my drug of choice. Take me anywhere and I’ll embrace it with open arms, camera slung over my shoulder. I will pay more for a room with a view.

I believe in God and the promise of purpose in my life.

I love popcorn – the crunchy, fresh, hot, real-butter kind.

I love coffee more. Dark, with heavy cream. It’s my morning mantra. My sweet addiction. My dose of caffeinated goodness wrapped up in a routine that I don’t want to walk away from. I grind the beans myself.

I do not like bugs. Therefore I do not like to camp. If there were no bugs I would like to camp. I do love the smell and the sound of campfires – the woodsy scent on the air, the crackle in the dark of the night, broken only by the susurrus of the wind in the trees. And I also love S’mores.

I get cranky when I am hungry. Feed me now or lose me forever.

I am the oldest of five. And there is a 14 year age gap between me and my youngest sib.

I love the vibe and energy of the city – offer me glitz and glamour, join me for a glass of wine, share a fabulously fancy dinner with me and conversation on a rooftop patio with a view of the skyline, but then take me away to wide open spaces: High desert, rolling hills, waving golden wheat, majestic mountains and the endless possibilities they promise. I want them both.

I am a retail therapy addict who is most fervently attracted to White House Black Market. My closet bears the burden well.

I was raised on cheese steaks & Tastycakes, but also on Broadway plays, summers at my grandmother’s pool, raspberry picking in the field behind her house, fifty cent romance novels bought at the library book sale, and fall color that decorates the worlds in shades of pumpkin, cinnamon, gold and ocher.

I’ve always wanted to change the world. I’ve always wished I could help people. So every day, in little ways, I try to involve myself in things that don’t benefit me first. I don’t often talk about them, because I feel to do so is not in the spirit of the deeds. But it’s a huge part of who I am and why I do what I do.

I am an entrepreneur. It’s in my genes. Don’t believe me? Follow your dreams to Toby’s Cup http://jacquelynnbuck.blogspot.com/2010/01/follow-your-dreams-to-tobys-cup-best.html

I sleep with the windows wide open even when it rains. I love the sound and smell of it as it blows in on an overnight storm. It lulls me under.

My favorite question: “what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?”

I have lived in 7 different states.

I have worked as a nanny (read: babysitter), a lab assistant, a short order cook for Toby’s Cup Hot Dog Stand, a file clerk for a Gastroenterologist, a checkout clerk at Happy Harry’s drugstore, and a public health evaluator – all before becoming a photographer who dabbles in graphic design. My undergrad degree is in biology with minors in philosophy and medical humanities. My master’s degree is in public health. I rocked philosophy, logic class was an “ah ha” moment for me, I hated organic chem and physics and I loved environmental health science. The places I have been have taken me to this place.

If my style and personality resonate with you, we might be the perfect fit! Sessions with me are a lot of fun – I promise – but they also require some time. I want to spend time with you – getting to know you, photographing you as you are: as a family, as an individual, as a couple. Yes, I know that everyone likes one or two “look here and smile” pictures. But I love the candid captures, the impromptu deviations from the norm, and the moments where I capture you looking at him or her looking at the child with no pre-planning or posing. That’s me.

Location

Tucson-based, trending in Tucson, Phoenix, and nationwide, but born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania, experienced in international destination elopements and weddings and portraits as well!  I have lived in NC, SC, PA, VA, DC, DE, CA and OH, GA, and now AZ. But the good news is that no matter where I live, I always go back to where I’ve been. So don’t let distance keep you from contacting me. I’ve done portraits up and down the east coast, across the nation, and even in Europe.

  • Peg WilsonHi Jacquelynn,

I am a budding photographer who has been doing it for over 20 yrs. I went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia for 2 years back in the 80’s, yes I’m that old 🙂 I quit school because I really hated the science and math of developing my own pictures. I got “a real” job and started a family but never lost my passion for photography. I love to create, capture a timeless moment and let my pictures tell a story. My two daughters are probably the most photographed children in the world.

Fast forward 20 yrs and photography is all digital, no hours in the darkroom and the computer work keeps me learning. I recently decided to go back to my passion and try to build a business. I enrolled in Gloucester County College and I’m starting small and exploring different types of photography. There is an endless supply of people who will allow me to practice on them or pay a small fee for my work.

I really think I need a professional to show me the ropes…I’m definitely a hands kind of person. My instructors tell me I have a great eye but I feel like there is so much more for me to learn. The feeling I get with the perfect shot is like giving birth to a child.

I’m so passionate and see the world as one photograph after another. So now that I’ve told you my story, I’d like to ask that if you are in the Gloucester County area taking pictures and need a helper please consider contacting me. I saw the pictures you look for a friend of mine and went to your website. I love your style and would like to opportunity to learn from you. I still work fulltime at a “daytime” job but hope that some day I’ll be able to truly follow my passion…”do something you love and you’ll never work a day”.

I applaud the beautiful moments that you have captured and thank you for sharing your passion with those who truly appreciate it.

    Peg

  • BillHi… I received my 80th gajillion “Rangefinder” magazine the other day, (I’ve been getting it for over 20 years now; I was a videographer in another lifetime!), and I came upon your article.

The reason I’m writing is this: On two of the photos in the article, you have a woman’s face, surrounded by words cut out of newspapers and magazines. This caught my eye, since that’s :::exactly::: the same thing that I do, (cut out words from newspapers and magazines), and I stick them on my refrigerator! 😉 SO, my whole refrigerator is covered with the same type of 1 and 2-word “life” words that you use in your collages of people.

Anyway, I thought it was cool that there was another person out there who did the same thing. My guess is that your refrigerator likely has the same type of “collection” on it, but that’s just a guess.:)

Feel free to send me the woman in the top photo… She is completely beautiful. 😉 Wait, I just noticed… That looks like a wedding ring on her finger. Ah well! Forget that, then!

Well, I’ve wasted enough of your time, SO, I’ll say so long!

Sincerely, Bill, Tallahassee FL, who was a videographer in the 1980’s (yep, ::that:: long ago… Video Cameras were several thousand dollars back then. NOW, you can get one in your box of cereal! 🙂
