“G” for Granola {stuff I love}

When I travel I spend a lot of time in grocery stores stocking up on every day items that are healthy, yummy, and will keep me fit and full until I return home to my regularly scheduled eating regimen. And when I shop locally (wherever locally might be) I am always looking for places like Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Health Habit (Goldsboro NC), Earth Fare (Columbia SC) and generally anywhere I can buy organic or locally sourced produce and other interesting items.

My go-to place in the Lehigh Valley (home town for me) is Wegmans. So, on my recent trip home, I was wandering the aisles of the Wegmans (because I love to see what stores offer that I don’t have or have never seen before or haven’t seen since the last assignment etc.) and I came across this granola. Oh, delicious granola. It’s the only way I’ll eat yogurt : ) I took a peek at the bag and behold! It was from a local place called the Granola Factory out of Bethlehem PA. I took a look at the three varieties and chose the Quinoa Fruit n Nut (with cherries and almonds – my favorites!).

And now I. Am. Hooked.

The thing that makes this granola better than most I’ve had is, truly, the salt. I love me some salt and especially sweet and salty – it makes my taste buds sing! And with every bite of this treat I received a tang of cherry, a hint of sweetness and the sharp and welcome bite of salt on my tongue. So thank you, Granola Factory, for making my mornings in PA delicious. I’m looking forward to my online order arriving shortly with a new supply : )

(PS another granola I love, but for different reasons, is the Hippie Crack from DC/Georgetown’s “Baked and Wired” – a favorite place for cupcakes, treats, coffee and yes, granola. Their granola rocks because of the coconut – toasted and crunchy and just the right amount.)

What granola do you favor? Any recommendations?
