the Playground {Tucson}

Networking with other professionals who do what you do is not competition. Shocking, I know. But every now and then you get a group of fabulous people together who understand that not every client is for every (photographer . wedding coordinator.  florist . cake artist . venue) but rather it’s about matching the right people together, and also about having a group of people to refer to when you get an inquiry that you cannot accommodate, for whatever reason.

I recently had the opportunity to spend time with Tucson’s finest wedding and event coordinators, getting to know them and a little about what they bring to the table. Mostly professionalism, creativity, and ready smiles. Desiree from Without a Hitch coordinated this event and graciously invited me, my favorite makeup and hair artist Heather Van Houten, and a fab DJ Andy DePew of Satyr Entertainment to share the evening. She reached out to some of her beloved vendors, Evergreen Flowers, who designed some innovative centerpieces using fruit and vegetables mixed with flowers, and Village Bakehouse for a cake that was melt in your mouth moist and sugary deliciousness on a fork. The Playground in downtown Tucson hosted the event, and I was able to see the space first hand, and with new eyes, as they grow towards making it a hip and trendy choice for the bride that loves urban, and wants the option to dance the night away after her weekend wedding. What a fabulous evening, well spent!
