Urban Settings

Urban locations are some of my favorites as backdrops for photographing people – sometimes the personality fits the setting, but sometimes the contrast is the cool part – like taking a toddler down to a graffiti wall, or a high school senior in a prom dress walking on train tracks. It’s all about the experience. Here are a few of my most recent urban people (in a surprisingly urban part of Valdosta, GA), and some studio shots of the same. Note – they are brother and sister (I hope I portrayed that well) and they are not smiley people (they were having fun! really!

We finished with a studio session – another great way to capture these sibs. I love showing the differences between urban and indoor studio – you can focus in the studio in ways you can’t in the field. Each has their place, but sometimes I love both.
