Tucson Family Photo Shoot on the Rocks

This Tucson family photo shoot was special because this location is special! This family is a result of a University of Arizona romance. Liz and Marc met at the University of Arizona many years ago and decided, after having children and raising a family, to move back to Tucson. And when it came time for their Tucson family photo shoot, they chose Saguaro National Park West, just off of Gates Pass Rd., because they used to hike and visit this location over and over when they were students here, and of course many times since.

As we discussed locations for this Tucson family photo shoot, Liz asked me for lots of ideas. We went through all the pros and cons of various locations in Tucson – from resorts with grass, to Mt. Lemmon pull offs with some fall color, to sunset spots among the saguaros to mountain-filled landscapes with desert washes. But she kept coming back to Gates Pass area. And when it comes right down to it, any Tucson family photo shoot is first and foremost about the people in it, but second about the location that serves as the backdrop for the family.

They ultimately decided on this spot for their Tucson family photo shoot, and even though some hiking and light climbing was involved to get to the prime spots, they agreed it would be worth it. And it was! It was the perfect day, with the best kind of sunset. The rocks and green of the desert made for a beautiful compliment to the clothes colors they chose – blues and oranges and rust and cream. The youngest was cooperative and did lots of smiling. And I made sure to get lots of group shots, but also photos of the couples and families together, Marc and Liz together, the siblings together, and even some individual headshots. The day was fantastic and Liz was thrilled with the results. She even ordered a realllly big print to commemorate the day. I am so glad we chose this location and I hope these bring happiness to the family for years to come!
