Tori Senior Pictures {soft, sweet light}

Tori’s senior pictures were amazing! She was incredible to work with. Her smile was infectious, and she was so natural in front of the camera.

A little about Tori: she sings. And wants to make that her future. And she’s applying to college with that in mind. Her job when she isn’t in school is to dress up as a Disney princess for children’s birthday parties – she sometimes eve has to wear a mermaid tail and swim! How cool is that? Tori might have been the most excited senior I’ve ever had in my studio when I showed her the photos. She and her mom both applauded after the slideshow. And at one point she said “my mouth hurts from smiling so much – I love them all.” I don’t think I could ask for a better compliment as a senior portrait photographer.

A little about the session. We chose the state park as a location because of the epic views and mountains. There was a cool barn, a fantastic vista with only the sky and the saguaro, and this super epic tree.

When I photograph senior pictures, I always suggest three clothing choices, and typically at least one of them is casual. But I always ask them to choose something that fits their personality. This one definitely was a great choice for her first look.The first outfit she wore was a casual look, but she looked fantastic in it. The off the shoulder shirt was cute and flirty and perfect with the jeans. We chose the barn as a location to match this casual look. Tori had two more looks, one really cool dress that had several slits in the bottom and then a LBD that rocked the tree, which was our last location.

I also love mixing lighting styles when I photograph senior pictures. I typically use soft, natural light for some and then really build off camera lighting in to make some unique and dramatic images.

This blog post showcases the softer side of the session. Check out this link https://www.jacquelynnbuck.com/tori-senior-pictures-the-dramatic-light/ to see some of the more dramatic images and to take a peek at those views and that tree. Which are your favorites?
